Hours:

2 days off a week which are usually Friday and Saturday OR Saturday and Sunday

Must have own PPE (safety boots, the rest is most supplied – hi vis, hair nets are worn by everyone)

Reports to: Head of Maintenance / Senior Engineer

Pay Rate: Starting at £13.43 an hour + OT rate of £16.79 an hour

Maintenance Engineer Opportunity

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer. This role ensures the performance, hygiene, and uptime of machinery and equipment. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy problem-solving, this role offers variety, responsibility, and development.

Purpose of the Role

To maintain and optimise machinery and equipment across the site to minimise downtime, support production efficiency, and ensure compliance with high-quality and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain machinery and equipment to high hygienic and operational standards.
  • Complete all preventative and reactive maintenance tasks according to schedules.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed and returned within set timeframes.
  • Log all jobs on the computer system with accurate details and send end-of-shift handover emails.
  • Report any defects or issues to the Head of Maintenance, Senior Engineer, or Packhouse Operations Manager.
  • Maintain the Maintenance Workshop to BRC and customer audit standards.
  • Ensure all work areas within the Packhouse are safely cordoned off during engineering tasks.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the engineering team, providing flexibility and cover when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous maintenance experience
  • Computer literate
  • Awareness of food safety requirements

Desirable

  • Experience working with packing machines and graders
  • Background in fresh-produce or food manufacturing environments
