Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a specialised geotechnical company in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a diverse range of ground investigation and geotechnical projects across residential, commercial, infrastructure, and development sectors.
This role offers a balance of site-based and office-based responsibilities, providing involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and supervising site investigations through to data interpretation, reporting, and client support.

Key Responsibilities
-
Undertake and supervise ground investigation works on a variety of sites.

Oversee site activities, ensuring investigations are completed safely and to the required technical standards.

Log soil and rock samples in accordance with current industry guidance and standards.

Coordinate drilling contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel.

Interpret ground investigation data and prepare factual and interpretative reports.

Assist in the assessment of geotechnical risks and provide foundation and earthworks recommendations.

Support Phase I and Phase II site investigations where required.

Monitor project programmes, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.

Maintain accurate site records, logs, and technical documentation.

Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Requirements
-
Previous experience within a ground investigation, geotechnical, or geoenvironmental consultancy environment.

Good understanding of ground investigation techniques, site supervision, and geotechnical assessment principles.

Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

Knowledge of current geotechnical standards, guidance, and relevant environmental regulations.

Strong report-writing, communication, and organisational skills.

Commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple project priorities.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
