Engineering Labourer
Location: Basildon
Salary: From £14.00 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Engineering Labourer to join our clients busy machine shop in Basildon. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the workshop and helping to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in precision engineering and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Filling CNC machines with oils and coolants.
- Fettling and deburring machined components.
- Operating a bandsaw safely and efficiently.
- Assisting with the operation of CNC machines (full training provided).
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the machine shop.
- Sweeping floors and ensuring work areas remain clean and safe.
- Supporting machinists and the production team with general engineering workshop duties.
- Following all health and safety procedures.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good work ethic and reliability.
- Comfortable carrying out physical work in an engineering workshop.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail.
- Awareness of health and safety.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or machine shop environment.
- Experience using a bandsaw or similar workshop equipment.
- Experience with fettling, deburring, or CNC machinery.
