English Specialist Teaching Assistant – Tower Hamlets
Are you a graduate with a passion for English and a desire to inspire the next generation of learners?
A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an English graduate or someone with strong literacy skills who is considering a career in teaching.
Working closely with the English Department, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop their reading, writing, comprehension and analytical skills. You will provide targeted interventions, support pupils in lessons and help raise attainment across the department.
The Role:
- Support students during English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Deliver small group and one-to-one literacy interventions.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing and communication.
- Support pupils preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing or a related subject.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
- Patient, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with students.
- An interest in progressing into teacher training in the future is welcomed.
