The Supply Register is currently recruiting for an Estates Maintenance Assistant to support Northumberland College at its beautiful Kirkley Hall campus.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and practical individual with maintenance, estates, facilities, or caretaking experience to join a busy college environment on a full-time basis.
The role will support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the college site, helping to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The Role
As an Estates Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out general maintenance and repair tasks across the campus
- Supporting the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and facilities
- Assisting with site security and opening/closing procedures
- Undertaking basic plumbing, painting, decorating, and maintenance duties
- Responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Supporting health and safety compliance across the site
- Assisting with room setups and college events where required
- Working as part of the wider estates and facilities team
Working Hours
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week.
Candidates must be flexible to work various shifts between:
6:00am – 11:00pm
Shift patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Previous maintenance, facilities, caretaking, estates, or site experience
Good practical and DIY skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong awareness of health and safety practices
Reliable, professional, and flexible approach
Good communication skills
Desirable:
Experience working within education, public sector, or large site environments
Relevant maintenance or trade qualifications
Basic knowledge of building maintenance systems
