Estimator / Trainee Estimator

KpH

About the Role

Whether you're looking to take your first step into estimating or you're already an experienced Estimator ready for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.

At KpH, we're looking for either a Trainee Estimator or an Estimator to join our growing Estimating team. The successful candidate will support the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders for deconstruction, demolition, strip-out and enabling works across London and the South East.

For those starting their career, we'll provide structured training, mentoring and ongoing development to help you build the skills and confidence needed to become a successful Estimator. If you already have estimating experience, you'll take ownership of tenders, working closely with our operational teams to deliver commercially competitive submissions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an employee-owned business with an excellent reputation, strong values and genuine opportunities for career progression.

What you'll be doing

Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings and specifications
  • Preparing accurate estimates and cost breakdowns
  • Producing Bills of Quantities, schedules of rates and pricing documents
  • Attending site visits and surveys to assess project requirements
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Liaising with Operations, Procurement and Health & Safety teams throughout the tender process
  • Assisting with tender submissions and supporting documentation
  • Supporting post-tender reviews and continuous improvement activities
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues

Trainee Estimators will receive full support and mentoring while developing these responsibilities.

We're looking for…

Trainee Estimator (£30,000–£35,000)

You'll be someone who:

  • Has excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Is highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Has an interest in construction, demolition or the built environment
  • Enjoys solving problems and working with numbers
  • Is eager to learn and develop a long-term career
  • Has good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team

Previous industry experience isn't essential – we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

Estimator (£35,000–£40,000)

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in an estimating role within demolition, deconstruction, construction or a related sector
  • Experience preparing competitive tender submissions
  • The ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The confidence to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
  • A proactive and collaborative approach

What you'll receive

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Structured training and career development
  • Clear progression opportunities within the Estimating team
  • Employee-Owned Trust membership after 12 months, including access to our profit-related bonus scheme
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Your birthday off
  • Company pension scheme
  • The opportunity to work on some of London's most prestigious deconstruction and enabling projects
