Join a Growing International Logistics Business
Our client is a successful and expanding international freight and logistics organisation, forming part of a larger group with an annual turnover of £142 million. Operating from modern purpose-built offices and warehouse facilities in Redditch, the business provides tailored air, sea and road freight solutions to customers throughout the UK and internationally.
With a strong reputation for service excellence and long-standing customer relationships, they support a diverse client base ranging from SMEs and owner-managed businesses through to globally recognised blue-chip organisations.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and proactive European Freight Operations Coordinator to join their Operations Team.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with European freight forwarding or transport operations experience who enjoys building strong customer relationships, solving logistical challenges, and managing shipments from start to finish.
You will be responsible for coordinating European road freight movements, customs processes, customer communications and supplier relationships while ensuring a consistently high level of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day European road freight shipments across import and export operations
- Process customs clearances where required
- Create and manage job files and associated shipping documentation
- Process shipments through the freight management system
- Build strong relationships with customers, handling quotations, bookings and service enquiries
- Liaise with transport providers and negotiate competitive rates
- Work closely with the Sales Team, providing operational support and pricing information
- Manage shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring customer expectations are met
- Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
- Maximise profitability through effective supplier negotiations
- Proactively identify opportunities to develop existing customer accounts
- Complete job invoicing and maintain accurate operational records
- Produce management reports, analysis and key performance statistics
- Participate in regular operations and sales meetings to review performance, opportunities and service levels
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within European freight forwarding or transport operations
- Strong customer service skills with experience handling quotations and rate negotiations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and commercially aware
