Our client Swindon Council is looking for an Experienced Social worker to join their Assessment and Child Protection team.
Job Purpose
The Experienced Social Worker will provide high-quality social work services to children, young people, and their families within the Assessment and Child Protection Team. The post holder will assess risk, safeguard children, and work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes. They will manage complex cases, demonstrate sound professional judgement, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met in accordance with legislation and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake statutory assessments, including Child and Family Assessments, to identify children's needs and risks.
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload involving child protection, children in need, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings.
- Complete timely and high-quality assessments, reports, and care plans.
- Undertake Section 47 enquiries and coordinate safeguarding investigations where appropriate.
- Develop and implement effective child protection and child in need plans.
- Build positive and purposeful relationships with children, young people, and families while maintaining a child-centred approach.
- Prepare reports for court and provide professional evidence during legal proceedings.
- Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, core groups, and looked after children reviews as required.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, legal services, and voluntary organisations.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and analytical case recordings using the organisation's recording system.
- Apply evidence-based practice and reflective decision-making to safeguard children and improve outcomes.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support newly qualified social workers, students, or less experienced colleagues where appropriate.
