Family Legal Secretary Job – Canterbury, Kent   An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family Legal Secretary to join the highly regarded Family Law and Childcare Law Department of a prestigious Legal 500 law firm in Canterbury.

This is an ideal opportunity for an organised and proactive Legal Secretary, Family Law Secretary, or experienced Legal Assistant looking to further their career within a respected and supportive legal practice. The successful candidate will play a key role supporting busy Family Law solicitors, providing first-class secretarial and administrative support across a wide range of privately funded and Legal Aid family matters.

Key Responsibilities As a Family Legal Secretary, your responsibilities will include:

  • Audio typing and digital dictation
  • Copy typing and preparing legal correspondence and court documents
  • Managing electronic files and document management systems
  • Diary management and appointment scheduling for fee earners
  • Liaising with clients, barristers, experts, courts and third parties
  • Managing incoming and outgoing telephone enquiries
  • Assisting with CCMS Legal Aid applications and administration
  • Processing fee notes and expert invoices
  • Providing administrative support to the Family Law team
  • Ensuring compliance with office procedures and legal practice standards

About You To be successful in this Family Legal Secretary role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Family Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Legal Administrator
  • Experience within Family Law, Childcare Law or another legal discipline
  • A genuine interest in Family Law
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
  • A professional, client-focused approach

Experience of CCMS, Legal Aid administration or Family Court procedures would be advantageous but is not essential.
