Eventus Legal Recruitment is seeking a Family Law Paralegal to join an established law firm in Dorking, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience within a supportive family law team dealing exclusively with privately funded cases.

The successful Family Law Paralegal in Dorking, Surrey will provide hands on support across a full range of privately funded family law matters. You will work closely with experienced solicitors and have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge through individual training and development plans. On offer is a salary of £28,000 to £32,000 (depending on experience), 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown, training and development, pension, and parking.

Role Responsibilities

The incoming Family Law Paralegal in Dorking, Surrey will assist the family law team with a varied privately funded caseload. Duties will include:

  • Supporting solicitors with divorce and civil partnership dissolution matters
  • Assisting with financial remedy proceedings and financial settlements
  • Supporting private children law matters, including child arrangement applications
  • Assisting with separation and cohabitation matters
  • Supporting cases involving domestic abuse and protective injunctions
  • Assisting with pre nuptial and post nuptial agreements
  • Drafting correspondence, court forms, statements and other legal documents
  • Preparing court bundles and documents for hearings
  • Reviewing financial disclosure and supporting documentation
  • Carrying out legal research
  • Liaising with clients, courts, barristers, experts and other solicitors
  • Providing clients with regular progress updates
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant files
  • Monitoring deadlines, court directions and key dates
  • Recording time and assisting with billing procedures

Person Specification

Applications are sought from Family Law Paralegals who have previous experience working within a family law department.

The successful Family Law Paralegal in Dorking, Surrey will be organised, approachable and confident communicating with clients who may be experiencing sensitive or emotionally challenging circumstances.

You will also have:

  • Previous family law experience gained within a legal practice
  • An understanding of privately funded family law matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good drafting and legal research skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A professional and empathetic approach to client care
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
