Role: Family Solicitor (Legal Aid)
Location: Chesterfield, Derby, or Nottingham Offices
Salary: £38,000 – £45,000
Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated Family Solicitor with 1-3 years' post-qualification experience to join a well-established Family Law team.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of privately and publicly funded family matters, with a particular focus on legal aid work. This role would suit a solicitor who is passionate about family law and committed to providing high-quality legal advice and representation to vulnerable clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of family law matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Advising and representing clients in:
- Domestic abuse matters
- Private children proceedings
- Non-molestation and occupation order applications
- Divorce and separation matters
- Financial remedy proceedings
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate.
- Preparing court applications, witness statements and other legal documents.
- Maintaining compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and professional standards.
- Delivering excellent client care and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
- 1-3 years' PQE in family law.
- Experience managing a family law caseload.
- Good working knowledge of legal aid procedures and funding requirements.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation and drafting skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in both public and private family law matters.
- Family Law Accreditation or a willingness to work towards accreditation.
- Advocacy experience within the Family Court.
