Field Telecoms Engineer – 24/7 Support | Immediate Start
Onsite Across Scotland | Travel Required | £200–£225 per day | Contract Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Field Telecoms Engineer to join a busy support and delivery team providing critical network support and installation services across Scotland. This is a fully field-based role requiring flexibility to participate in a 24x7x365 support environment while ensuring contractual SLA targets are consistently achieved.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering installations, fault resolution and maintenance activities across customer sites, whilst ensuring all relevant updates and technical information are communicated effectively to the client's Service Support Desk.
Field Telecoms Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line assurance support on a 24x7x365 basis, ensuring agreed SLA targets are achieved.
- Install, commission and support telecoms networks and associated equipment across Scotland.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities on customer sites.
- Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot network and system environments.
- Diagnose and resolve faults, escalating where necessary.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the client's Service Support Desk.
- Maintain high standards of technical documentation and customer service.
Field Telecoms Engineer Technologies & Experience
- Installation and support of:
- Commtel
- SDH
- PDH
- Microwave Radio
- XTran technologies
- Excellent understanding of routing, switching and data networking principles.
- Strong IP networking knowledge, including:
- WAN
- LAN
- MPLS
- Experience monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting network and system environments.
- Knowledge of Cisco and Alcatel products.
- LAN and WAN internetworking skills.
- Experience working with both DC and AC power systems.
Field Telecoms Engineer Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in the installation and support of:
- DC Chargers
- PDH and SDH transmission systems
- Commtel equipment
- Microwave radio technologies
- DC and AC power systems
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage field-based activities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Flexible approach to extensive travel across Scotland and participation in a 24/7 support rota.
