Finance Assistant – Gravesend
Academics Ltd is working with a welcoming and well-established educational setting in Gravesend to recruit a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment.
As a Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payment processing, and budget monitoring
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with organisational and statutory requirements
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for senior leadership and key stakeholders
- Reconcile accounts, including expenses, school funds, and other financial transactions
- Support budget setting, forecasting, and ongoing financial planning processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and organisational policies
- Liaise with suppliers, external auditors, and local authority finance teams where required
- Assist with processing expenses, purchase orders, and financial documentation
- Support wider financial administration, including grant funding and fundraising activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve financial processes and reporting procedures
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working as a Finance Assistant or within a finance or accounts support role
- Experience within an education, public sector, or similar environment would be advantageous
- Strong understanding of financial processes, procedures, and record keeping
- Confident user of financial systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent numeracy skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines effectively
- Strong communication skills when dealing with staff, suppliers, and external organisations
- Proactive approach with a willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Relevant finance qualifications (such as AAT or working towards) are desirable but not essential
