Reed Accountancy are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in their search for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive business offering flexible working arrangements, including one day per week in the office, flexible start and finish times, and half-day Fridays.
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: 37.5
Contract: 12-month fixed term contract
Location: Edinburgh (1 day a week)
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process sales invoices using Excel and Sage 200.
- Manage credit control activities and maintain accurate customer accounts.
- Process purchase invoices and coordinate invoice approvals.
- Prepare supplier payment runs and ensure timely payments.
- Complete weekly bank downloads and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Process deposits and maintain banking records, mandates, and authorised signatory information.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns through Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Reconcile recharge nominal codes and investigate any variances.
- Update and maintain financial control sheets and records.
- Assist with loan documentation and other finance-related administration.
- Provide general administrative support and assist with ad hoc requests across the finance function.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative approach.
