Finance Director

AFR Consulting and FD Recruit are partnering with a long-standing client in their search for an experienced Finance Director to act as strategic partner to the MD, optimise performance and play a key leadership role on site.

The opportunity

This position will suit an ambitious and technically strong candidate with proven experience as a Finance Director and the desire to embark on an exciting journey with a growing, successful business. As a member of the site managing Board, you should be comfortable occupying a visible leadership role with influence. The principal requirement is to manage the finance department, liaising closely with the MD, management team and stakeholders internationally to drive strategic growth and profitability, minimise risk and ensure regulatory compliance. You will be heavily involved with shaping the strategy and future development of the company, strengthening culture and driving change.

Key duties

• To lead and develop the finance team and HR department

• Business partner with the MD and senior leadership team to drive profitability

• Own all financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting

• Control costs, manage liquidity and cashflow in various currencies

• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and corporate directives of the Group

• Provide reporting into Group and site stakeholders

• Analyse and present meaningful financial data for business review meetings

• Drive high performance and positive change by setting targets and monitoring KPI’s

• Responsible for company secretarial matters, liaising with lawyers, advisers etc.

• Develop longer term projections and execute business strategy by devising financial plans

• Monitor investments, appraising CAPEX cases and managing risk

• Assist other Directors / department management by providing financial information and analysis

• Liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with statutory year end audit

• Manage HR Department, involved in setting HR strategy and policies to support long term goals

• Actively promote company culture and values, develop employee engagement and well being

• Support organisational change and digital transformation across the business

Required skills and qualifications

• Qualified accountant (e.g ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong academic pedigree

• Previous experience as a Finance Director in a leadership role

• Inspiring management style to drive high performance culture

• Strong technical ability, knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory reporting

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels

• Down to earth with operational mindset and commercial acumen

• Knowledge of ERP systems, data analysis and business management tools.

• Experience of international trade and manufacturing from a medium / large business.
