Barnsley Healthcare Federation is looking for a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager to lead its finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing healthcare organisation where you'll play a key role in supporting strategic decision making, ensuring robust financial governance, and helping deliver high quality healthcare services across the local community.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you'll lead the Finance Team and take ownership of the organisation's financial management, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and insightful financial analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing monthly management accounts, financial reports and performance dashboards
- Leading the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning process
- Monitoring income, expenditure, cash flow and financial performance
- Providing meaningful financial analysis to support strategic business decisions
- Developing financial models, forecasts and business cases
- Maintaining strong financial controls, governance and compliance
- Supporting year-end accounts, external audit and statutory reporting
- Working closely with budget holders and senior leaders to improve financial performance
- Leading, developing and supporting the Finance Team
- Identifying opportunities to improve reporting through automation, advanced Excel and AI-enabled tools.
About You
We're looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial thinking.
You'll have:
- Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA status, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior management accounting role
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
- Excellent knowledge of financial governance, controls and statutory reporting
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, pivot tables and automation
- Previous experience leading or managing a finance team
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and adding value.
Experience within healthcare, charity or another regulated sector would be advantageous but isn't essential.
