An opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance professional to step into an Interim Financial Controller position with a rapidly evolving Logistics business.

This assignment will play a critical role in maintaining financial stability, supporting operational performance, and providing leadership to an established finance team during a period of transition and growth.

We're looking for someone who can quickly assess priorities, establish control, and provide confidence to senior stakeholders through accurate reporting, strong financial governance, and effective team management.

The Role

This is a broad and varied Financial Controller position that combines financial stewardship with operational leadership. You'll be responsible for ensuring the finance function continues to perform effectively while delivering meaningful insight that supports commercial decision-making.

The successful candidate will become a key point of contact across the business, partnering with leadership teams to maintain reporting standards, oversee compliance obligations, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

What You'll Be Doing?

  • Taking ownership of monthly financial reporting and ensuring key deadlines are met.
  • Providing meaningful analysis and commentary to support business performance reviews.
  • Leading forecasting and cash management activities to support short and medium-term planning.
  • Reviewing financial controls and ensuring robust governance is maintained across all finance processes.
  • Supporting external audit requirements and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Managing and developing members of the finance team while ensuring continuity of service.
  • Overseeing core transactional finance activities and resolving operational issues where required.
  • Driving process improvements and helping deliver ongoing finance transformation initiatives.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to provide financial guidance and challenge where appropriate.
  • Supporting a smooth transition for future permanent finance leadership.

About You

You'll be a confident finance leader who enjoys operating in a hands-on environment. Comfortable moving between strategic discussions and operational detail, you'll be able to quickly understand business requirements and build effective working relationships across multiple functions.

  • Professional accounting qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Previous experience leading finance teams within a busy commercial environment (Essential)
  • Prior experience working within Logistics sector (Desirable)
  • Strong financial reporting and technical accounting capability.
  • A track record of improving processes and strengthening financial controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently, make decisions, and deliver results from day one.
  • Strong systems and reporting experience, ideally across ERP platforms and advanced Excel environments.
