Are you a commercially minded qualified accountant ready to take ownership of a finance function and become a true business partner to senior leadership?

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller to join a growing and forward-thinking business where your impact will extend far beyond the numbers. You'll take the lead on financial reporting, cashflow management, controls and compliance whilst providing strategic insight that helps shape key business decisions. Working closely with the Managing Director and leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving performance, supporting growth initiatives and strengthening the financial foundations of the organisation.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take full responsibility for the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls and effective financial management across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations and cashflow reports within agreed deadlines.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes, providing insightful analysis and commentary on business performance.
  • Managing daily cashflow, banking relationships and funding facilities, ensuring strong liquidity and working capital performance.
  • Maintaining robust financial controls, governance frameworks and compliance with UK accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Overseeing VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE submissions, year-end audit processes and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Managing operational finance activities including sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll oversight and aged debtor and creditor performance.
  • Providing commercial financial insight, financial modelling and decision-making support to drive profitability, growth initiatives and investment opportunities.

About You

We're looking for a proactive and commercially focused finance professional who enjoys operating both strategically and hands-on.

To be successful, you will have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance position with strong financial reporting and management accounting expertise.
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, governance, statutory accounting and audit requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.
  • The confidence to build relationships and influence stakeholders at senior leadership level.
  • A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear business insight.
  • Experience within invoice finance, asset-based lending, speciality finance environments, acquisition integration projects or Power BI would be advantageous.
