BTG Recruitment
Financial Controller
£55,000 – £58,000 | North Notts | Hybrid working
Are you a hands-on finance leader who enjoys getting under the skin of a business, supporting a team and improving the way finance operates?
We are recruiting a Financial Controller for a large, established charity based near Mansfield. This is a key role within a complex organisation, leading the day-to-day finance function while supporting senior leadership with accurate reporting, forecasting, cash flow and financial control.
You will be joining an organisation with multiple service areas, a meaningful purpose and a finance function that needs someone who can bring structure, support and technical confidence.
The Role
You will take ownership of the finance operation, including:
- Leading and developing a small finance and payroll team
- Reviewing monthly management accounts
- Working closely with budget holders on reporting, budgets and forecasts
- Producing cash flow forecasts and supporting wider financial planning
- Overseeing capital reporting, fixed assets and ROI analysis
- Supporting board, senior management and committee reporting
- Working with auditors and professional advisors
- Improving processes, controls, reporting and use of systems
The Person
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong management accounts experience
- Previous experience managing or developing a finance team
- Good technical understanding of month-end, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and fixed assets
- Strong Excel skills
- Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow experience
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and non-finance managers
- ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent qualification, although strong finalists will be considered
Experience in charity, education, not-for-profit, public sector or multi-academy trusts would be useful, but it is not essential. More important is the ability to lead a team, understand the detail and improve how the finance function supports the organisation.
What’s On Offer
- £55,000 – £58,000 salary
- Hybrid working
- Flexible start and finish times
- Pension
- 25 days' holiday, rising with service
- Broad, senior finance role with real influence
- Opportunity to work for an organisation with a clear social purpose
This is an excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller who wants a varied, hands-on leadership role in a values-led organisation.
