Description
- Trade a range of fixed income products, primarily government and corporate bonds.
- Execute trades across primary and secondary markets, ensuring best execution.
- Manage and monitor interest rate and credit risk exposure across the trading book.
- Provide pricing and liquidity to internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
- Analyse market movements (rates, inflation, central banks) to identify trading opportunities.
- Support treasury activities, including liquidity and balance sheet optimisation.
- Hedge positions using interest rate products (e.g. swaps, futures).
- Maintain working awareness of FX markets to manage cross-currency risk.
- Develop relationships with brokers, dealers, and counterparties.
- Ensure all activity is aligned with regulatory and risk frameworks.
Profile
A successful Fixed Income Trader should have:
- 2+ years of experience in fixed income trading, ideally within a banking environment.
- Strong product knowledge across Government bonds and Corporate bonds.
- Good understanding of Interest rate dynamics, credit risk and bond pricing.
- Working knowledge of FX markets (spot/forwards awareness).
- Strong understanding of market structure and trade execution processes.
- Highly analytical with strong numerical ability.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, risk-taking environment.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
