Are you passionate about food, nutrition, and educating young minds? Academics is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Food Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire starting from September 2026 on a long-term contract, with a view to go permanent for the right candidate
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher to inspire students and contribute to their understanding of food science, culinary skills, and healthy living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to students of varying abilities, ensuring all students are engaged and motivated.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a curriculum that meets national standards and fosters a love for cooking and nutrition.
- Assessment and Reporting: Assess students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare reports on their performance.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and ensure the safety and well-being of all students during practical lessons.
- Extracurricular Activities: Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to Food Technology, such as cooking clubs or health and nutrition workshops.
- Professional Development: Stay current with the latest educational practices and Food Technology trends, participating in professional development as required.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must have QTS and a relevant degree in Food Technology or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
- Passion for Teaching: A genuine passion for teaching and inspiring young people.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organizational skills to plan and manage lessons and resources efficiently.
