We have an exciting new opportunity for a Fuel Handler for a fixed-term contract based in Snetterton. You will require current Forklift licences and have a strong awareness of health & safety.
Your new role
The Fuel Handler is responsible for the safe receipt, handling, storage, and movement of straw bales and other biomass fuels used in the generation of renewable energy. The role involves operating forklifts and other mobile plant equipment, maintaining fuel supply to the boiler system, monitoring fuel storage areas, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Receive, inspect, and unload straw deliveries arriving at site.
- Safely transport and stack straw bales within designated storage areas using a forklift truck.
- Maintain an uninterrupted fuel supply to the power station combustion process.
- Monitor fuel stock levels and report shortages or quality issues.
- Assist with fuel feeding operations and ensure fuel is delivered according to operational requirements.
- Conduct routine housekeeping of fuel storage, loading, and operational areas.
- Remove waste materials and maintain clean, organised working areas
- Operate forklifts, telehandlers, loading shovels, or other authorised mobile plant equipment.
- Carry out daily pre-use inspections and defect reporting.
- Ensure equipment is operated safely and in accordance with site procedures and training.
- Report mechanical defects promptly and assist maintenance personnel where required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience operating forklifts in an industrial, agricultural, logistics, recycling, or power generation setting.
- Experience handling bulk materials or biomass products is desirable.
- Experience working safely around heavy machinery and moving vehicles.
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS, or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in an industrial environment
