A busy garage with a solid reputation built on reliability and good customer service. Joining a small team this role is to service a variety of vehicles, various brands and deal with the repair of bodywork.
Job Summary:
As a Garage Technician you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. The role involves working with mechanical and electrical systems to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and roadworthy.
Ideally a minimum of 2-3 years experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tyres, etc.)
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
- Repair or replace faulty parts and components
- Conduct vehicle inspections and safety checks
- Maintain accurate service records and job sheets
- Ensure all work complies with safety and manufacturer standards
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe
- Communicate with customers or service advisors about required repairs
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems (engine, transmission, braking, electrical)
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and software
- Problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good manual dexterity
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Basic IT skills for job logging and diagnostics
Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a garage/workshop environment
- MOT Tester certification (desirable, not essential)
- Full UK driving licence
