German Speaking Accountant
Location: Loughborough
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000
Hybrid Working – 2 days in the office

We are recruiting for a German speaking Accountant to join an international business with a strong presence across the UK and Europe.

This is a broad accounting role supporting both the German and UK entities, with the majority of the role focused on the German business. You will work closely with the finance team in Germany, as well as the UK leadership team, supporting day-to-day accounting, reporting, reconciliations, VAT and statutory finance activity.

This would suit an experienced accountant who is fluent in German, has strong knowledge of German GAAP / HGB, and is looking for a varied role within an established international group.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Recording and posting day-to-day accounting transactions
• Balance sheet reconciliations and account clarification
• Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and P&L accounting
• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements under German GAAP / HGB
• Supporting IFRS group reporting
• Intercompany reconciliations
• Preparing payment runs
• Supporting VAT returns and VAT-related queries
• Assisting with internal and external reporting
• Supporting internal controls and process improvements
• Liaising with colleagues in Germany, the UK and across the wider EMEA finance team
• Working with external advisors and auditors where required

The Candidate

You will need:

• Fluent German language skills
• Strong English communication skills
• Experience in accounting, finance, audit or tax
• Practical knowledge of German GAAP / HGB
• Good Excel and ERP system skills
• Strong attention to detail and a structured working style
• The ability to work independently and communicate confidently with colleagues in both Germany and the UK

Knowledge of IFRS, UK tax, Irish tax, VAT or Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central would be advantageous, but not essential.
