Governance Officer

Working closely with Trustees, Board members and senior leaders, you'll play a key role in supporting effective governance and helping the charity continue to grow and develop. This is an opportunity to bring your governance experience to an organisation that values your expertise and gives you the autonomy to improve and streamline processes.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinating governance support functions to ensure effective and compliant operations.
- Managing all administrative aspects of Board and Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, circulation of papers, minute-taking and action tracking.
- Maintaining the Governance Calendar and coordinating meeting schedules.
- Supporting Trustee recruitment, helping to maintain a diverse and skilled Board.
- Assisting with Trustee induction, training and ongoing development.
- Maintaining statutory records, publications and governance documentation, including Annual Reports and Accounts.
- Organising and supporting the Annual General Meeting, including preparation of papers and minute production.
- Maintaining statutory registers and organisational records.
- Providing administrative and governance support to the Chair, Vice-Chair, Committee Chairs and President.
- Managing Trustee Conflict of Interest Registers.
- Supporting Trustee engagement and communications throughout the year.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of governance processes and procedures.
About You
You'll be organised, professional and confident working with senior stakeholders. You'll enjoy managing a varied workload and taking ownership of important governance processes.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous governance, company secretarial or board administration experience.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A tactful and discreet approach, with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and relevant IT systems.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues and trustees.
