Graduate Planner – Planning Consultancy
A well-regarded planning consultancy with growing operations in the East Midlands is seeking to appoint a Graduate Planner to join its Castle Donington office. The organisation delivers high-quality planning advice and services for a diverse range of clients, including residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early career professional to begin their planning career within a supportive, collaborative environment and gain hands-on experience working across real projects that shape communities.
Role Overview
As a Graduate Planner, you will join a busy team working on planning applications, feasibility assessments and development proposals across a variety of scales and typologies. You will assist experienced planners in progressing applications through the planning system and contribute to the preparation of professional planning documentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the preparation of planning applications and supporting documents
- Assisting with research and appraisals of sites and policy frameworks
- Liaising with internal teams, clients, statutory consultees and local planning authorities
- Helping with community engagement and consultation activities
- Contributing to planning reports, presentations and correspondence
- Gaining exposure to development management and strategic planning practice
This role provides a structured learning environment with on-the-job training and mentoring to support your professional development.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Holds (or is completing) an RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a closely related discipline
- Is enthusiastic about beginning a career in the UK planning sector
- Has strong communication and organisational skills
- Demonstrates an ability to work well in a team and engage with clients and stakeholders
- Shows attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and eagerness to learn
- Has competence with standard office IT tools (e.g. Word, Excel, GIS desirable)
Prior industry experience is not essential, but any relevant internships, placements or planning-related project work will be advantageous.
