Distinct Recruitment
Head of Finance | Derbyshire | £70,000 to £80,000 + Profit Share + Electric Company Car + Family Healthcare
If you’re a Financial Controller, Group FC or Head of Finance who feels ready for more, this is probably worth a look.
This is the number one finance role in the business, with a clear plan for it to become Finance Director over the next 12 to 18 months.
So it is not quite an FD role on day one. But it is very much heading that way.
You will get the ownership now, with support around you, and a proper route to grow into the FD title as the role develops.
The business
This is a privately owned, established Derbyshire business with a strong reputation and a lot going on.
There is acquisition activity, systems work, process improvement and plenty of opportunity to make finance better. Not because everything is broken, but because the business is growing and needs better information, better controls and better visibility.
It is a good business that wants finance to play a bigger role.
The role
You will own the day to day finance function.
That means leading the team, improving processes, tightening controls, developing reporting, managing cash, supporting budgets and forecasts, and giving the leadership team better information to make decisions from.
You will also be involved in commercial areas like margin, pricing, tenders and performance.
So yes, there is detail.
But there is also a bigger picture. This is a role where you can build credibility quickly, get close to the CEO and senior team, and grow into the FD role properly rather than being dropped into it with no support.
The person
This could suit someone already operating as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Head of Finance.
You will need to be qualified, comfortable leading a team and happy getting into the detail when needed.
Sector background is not the main thing. What matters more is that you have worked in a busy, operational business and can improve how finance runs.
You will need to be on site to start with. Flexibility is likely further down the line, but early on, you will need to be close to the business and the team.
The package
- £70,000 to £80,000
- Very Healthy Profit share scheme
- Fully electric company car
- Private healthcare for you and your family
- 5% matched pension
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
The salary range is pretty much set, so I don’t want to be vague on that.
Where there may be some flexibility is around the wider package, things like pension, holiday or benefits depending on what matters most to you.
The bigger upside here is the progression. This is a Head of Finance role now, with a clear plan for promotion to Finance Director over the next 12 to 18 months, and the opportunity to earn more as that promotion happens.
If you’re looking for £90,000 plus from day one, this probably won’t be the right one.
But if you’re looking for a proper step up, genuine FD progression, a strong benefits package and the chance to grow into the top finance role in the business, it is well worth a conversation.
