Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be supporting a rapidly expanding organisation with the recruitment of a new Head of Finance. The business has grown significantly in recent years, with multiple sites across the region and ambitious plans for further expansion. This appointment represents a rare opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-looking company at a pivotal stage in its development.
Based at the organisation’s head office near Redruth, the Head of Finance will take full ownership of the finance function and lead a capable team. Working closely with the Directors and senior operational leaders, the successful candidate will play a central role in strengthening financial control, improving financial reporting, enhancing systems and providing the commercial insight required to support continued growth.
This is a broad, hands on senior management role covering financial leadership, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, financial planning, systems development, operational finance and strategic decision making. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to the Directors, helping shape the next phase of the company’s evolution.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the finance function, ensuring accurate, timely and commercially focused financial reporting
* Oversight of management accounts, month-end and year-end processes, weekly P&L reporting and financial performance analysis
* Improving divisional, site and customer reporting, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities
* Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, including scenario modelling and financial analysis
* Supporting growth and investment decisions, including new sites, major projects and future expansion
* Driving systems improvements, ERP optimisation, automation and better integration between finance and operational platforms
* Maintaining strong financial controls across ledgers, payroll, banking, stock, fixed assets, reconciliations and approvals
* Managing cash flow, working capital, debtor performance and supplier terms
* Supporting operational managers to understand and improve margin drivers and cost-to-serve analysis
A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with senior finance leadership experience in a fast moving or multi site environment. You will bring strong capability across management accounts, month-end and year-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial analysis and commercial finance. You’ll be confident engaging with senior stakeholders and linking financial performance to operational and strategic decision making. A practical, hands-on approach, strong balance sheet control, and experience improving finance systems, processes, reporting routines or team structures will be highly valued. You will also be comfortable leading a finance team and travelling between sites as required.
