Head of Financial Accounting | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Sheffield | Hybrid Working
This is an opportunity for an experienced qualified (ACA/ACCA) financial accountant, with a proven ability to lead high performing teams, to step into a broad leadership role with responsibility for financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax, treasury and the ongoing development of a well-established finance team.
Working closely within the SLT, you'll play a key role in ensuring the finance function continues to operate effectively while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and support wider business objectives.
This is a hands-on leadership position that will suit someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with people management.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the UK Financial Accounting function, ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reporting and maintaining a robust control environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Financial Accounting team, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Overseeing statutory accounts preparation, external audit and all financial compliance requirements.
- Managing tax matters including VAT and Corporation Tax.
- Taking ownership of cash flow, treasury and working capital performance.
- Supporting investment planning and capital expenditure approval processes.
- Working closely with senior finance colleagues to drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and controls.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing finance team while promoting collaboration and accountability.
About You
We're keen to speak with qualified accountants (ACA or ACCA) who can demonstrate strong technical financial accounting experience and people management skills, gained within a sizeable or complex organisation.
You'll ideally bring:
- A strong background in statutory reporting and financial accounting.
- Experience of managing external audits and maintaining effective financial controls.
- Good knowledge of UK tax compliance.
- Previous experience leading and developing finance teams.
