The Supply Register is delighted to be working in partnership with NCG to recruit an exceptional Head of Curriculum – Maths on behalf of Southwark College.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced curriculum leader to drive excellence across a high-profile Maths department, leading a dedicated team and shaping the educational journey of hundreds of learners each year.
Based at Southwark College's vibrant central London campus, you will play a key strategic role in delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring students develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to progress successfully into further study, employment and apprenticeships.
About the Role
As Head of Curriculum – Maths, you will provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction for the College's Maths provision, overseeing GCSE Maths and Functional Skills programmes for both 16–18 study programme learners and adult students.
Leading a team of highly committed teachers and support staff, you will be responsible for curriculum planning, quality improvement, performance management, budget oversight and driving learner achievement. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the College to ensure Maths remains at the heart of student success.

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead and develop an ambitious, high-performing Maths department that delivers exceptional learner outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring students achieve their full potential.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that is responsive to local, regional and national priorities and skills needs.
- Use performance data and quality metrics to monitor progress, identify opportunities and deliver measurable improvements.
- Manage curriculum planning, timetabling, staffing and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
- Foster a culture of high expectations, accountability and professional development across the department.
- Build strong relationships with employers, schools, community organisations and external stakeholders to enhance curriculum relevance and student opportunities.
- Support student recruitment, retention, achievement and progression through innovative and learner-focused approaches.
- Contribute as a key member of the College management team, helping to drive the wider strategic objectives of Southwark College and NCG.
About You
We're looking for a dynamic and experienced leader who can inspire teams and deliver results.
You will bring:
- A degree in Mathematics or a relevant professional qualification, alongside significant sector experience.
- A successful track record of leading curriculum teams and improving learner outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of Further Education quality frameworks, curriculum planning and performance management.
- Experience of leading and developing staff to achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
- A passion for raising aspirations and ensuring learners achieve outstanding outcomes.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to analyse data, drive improvement and manage resources effectively.
- A commitment to innovation, inclusion and continuous improvement.
