Aston Charles Ltd
We are very excited to be assisting this formidable speciality insurer in its search for a Head of Regional Broker Development.
Featuring prominently in the press, and winning the most prestigious industry awards and plaudits, this insurer is expanding significantly and enjoying 20% year on year growth. With its highly innovative approach, commitment to launching the best-in-class products, and its unwavering focus on being true market leaders, this is an opportune time to join the company.
Due to the ongoing growth of this organisation, we know of no other insurer that can match its career development opportunities. In fact, this position has arisen as a result of a recent internal promotion, gained within an impressive timescale. This is a business where everyone’s successes are highly visible to the board, who take meritocracy and reward & recognition very seriously.
Reporting to the Business Development Director, you will play an integral role in bringing its unique sector proposition to the broker community, driving maximum awareness and engagement. Leading the business development team, you will help to identify brokers who have business in relevant product sectors, whilst developing a robust pipeline of new opportunities. You’ll benefit from joining an already high-performing sales team, but there is still huge potential to take things to the next level. This role has a big focus on mentoring, coaching and development, and you will play a very hands-on role in helping to exploit the full potential of your team members. We envisage that 3 days a week, you will be out in the field, shadowing BDMs, in order to help them achieve their goals. You’ll lead by example, whilst identifying areas for improvement, and harnessing individual strengths.
“We are not a composite insurer, and we’re not relevant to all brokers”, says the Director. “We’re looking for someone who can drill down into our data and truly understand where our key opportunities lie, where the inefficiencies are, and where we should be focusing our efforts.” As such, you must have an appreciation of the sales skills required to promote specialist commercial insurance products within the intermediary market.
It’s essential that you have a demonstrable track record of leading a successful commercial insurance sales team. We will consider driven and self-motivated candidates from either an insurer, MGA or broker market, who are truly excited about making their mark within what is arguably the most impressive commercial insurer in the UK market right now. You will have previous experience within a face-to-face sales role, together with a deep understanding of what brokers want from their insurer partners. Just as importantly, you’ll be an inspirational leader, with a structured approach to sales, and you will not be afraid to challenge the status quo in order to achieve business objectives.
We are flexible on location, but you must be within commuting distance (hybrid-working) from one of our client’s key branch locations (Leeds, Manchester, or London).
You will be rewarded with an attractive basic salary, together with a performance-related bonus, which based on current business levels, far exceeds anything that is achievable at competing insurers. In addition, you will have access to a highly impressive rage of corporate benefits, which includes substantial pension contributions.
