An established and fast-growing manufacturing SME is seeking a commercially astute Head of Supply Chain to take ownership of end-to-end supply chain operations and support the next phase of business growth.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and operating as a key member of the Senior Management Team, this role will lead warehouse and supply chain activities, with full accountability for performance, cost control, service levels and scalability. You will play a critical role in ensuring the supply chain supports both current operations and future growth ambitions.

This is a highly hands-on, SME-focused leadership role, suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational delivery. You will drive commercial decision-making, embed continuous improvement, develop high-performing teams, and implement robust, agile supply chain strategies that directly impact profitability and customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach and develop teams across warehouse, procurement and supply chain, embedding a high-performance, culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Act as a senior leader within the business, contributing to wider company initiatives and working closely with HR on engagement, capability development and succession planning.
  • Own and deliver the end-to-end supply chain strategy, ensuring it supports business growth, efficiency, cost control and customer service objectives.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships and performance through effective sourcing strategies, negotiation, and regular engagement across UK and international suppliers.
  • Oversee logistics and warehousing operations from procurement through to finished goods dispatch, including leading the implementation and adoption of a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Drive measurable improvements across key KPIs including OTIF, inventory turnover, supplier performance and overall cost efficiency.
  • Manage supply chain risk, quality, health & safety and compliance requirements, including sustainability initiatives and SEDEX accreditation.
  • Take full ownership of supply chain budgets, contracts and supplier agreements, ensuring strong financial control and delivery against commercial targets.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Supply Chain Management or similar related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior supply chain leadership role, with a strong track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong supplier management experience across UK and European supply chains.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAGE 200 preferred; SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar considered).
  • Commercially minded with strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience contributing at Senior Management Team level.

Desirable:

  • Professional supply chain or procurement accreditation (e.g. CIPS, APICS).
  • Background in a manufacturing or production-led environment.
