Overview
We are seeking an experienced interim Head of Transformation to lead an established transformation function while mobilising and implementing a refreshed transformation programme. This is a senior leadership role focused on driving organisational change, embedding new governance arrangements, and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage an existing transformation programme, ensuring continuity of delivery, performance, and benefits realisation.
- Mobilise and implement a refreshed transformation programme, including governance structures, delivery frameworks, and implementation plans.
- Lead and develop the Transformation Unit, ensuring the team has the appropriate structure, capability, and capacity to deliver key priorities.
- Implement outcomes from a planned team restructure, embedding new ways of working and driving operational efficiency.
- Provide strategic advice and reporting to senior leaders and key stakeholders on programme progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Strengthen change management approaches, performance monitoring, and benefits tracking across transformation initiatives.
- Build effective relationships across services and partner organisations to support cross-functional transformation delivery.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience leading large-scale transformation programmes within local government or similarly complex organisations.
- Strong track record of managing teams, programmes, and budgets, delivering measurable service improvements and organisational outcomes.
- Experience establishing governance arrangements, programme frameworks, and delivery structures from mobilisation through to implementation.
- Ability to operate credibly at a senior level, influencing executive leadership teams and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience leading organisational change, restructuring teams, and embedding continuous improvement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in complex and politically sensitive environments.
- Relevant qualification or equivalent senior-level experience in transformation, programme management, organisational change, or service delivery.
