HGV Mechanic
Location: Fleet
Salary: £26.00 per hour
Our client who specialise in waste management, recycling, and construction services are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their late shift team, carrying out maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs to ensure maximum fleet availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle servicing, inspections, and repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines and VOSA requirements
- Assist with fault diagnosis and rectification across the fleet
- Ensure vehicles are prepared and presented for MOT testing
- Complete job cards and workshop documentation accurately
- Follow company time recording procedures
- Work safely and efficiently whilst maintaining high workshop standards
- Support fleet reliability and minimise vehicle downtime
Requirements
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Heavy Vehicle Technician
- Recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle or plant engineering
- Confident working with pneumatic braking systems and electrical repairs
- Ability to inspect vehicles to MOT standards
- Experience planning and implementing maintenance schedules
- Experience working on Volvo trucks would be advantageous
- Level 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent would be desirable
- IRTEC accreditation would be advantageous
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel between sites when required
Salary & Benefits
- £26.00 per hour
- Monday to Thursday: 17:00 – 02:00
- Friday finish typically between 20:00 – 21:00 following workshop clean down
- Regular overtime available
