Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support a range of local primary schools across Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced education professionals looking to make a meaningful impact on pupils' learning and development.
About the Role
As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs, you will provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, while also confidently leading whole-class learning when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Lead small-group interventions across core curriculum subjects
- Provide tailored support for pupils with additional needs, including SEN
- Assist with lesson planning, assessment, and pupil progress tracking
- Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support pupil achievement
Requirements
- A recognised HLTA Level 4 qualification
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting
- Confidence in leading whole-class learning and managing classroom behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, positive attitude and genuine passion for education
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of all pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
