Aurora Brampton Valley School is opening its doors in late 2026 (tbc) and will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Main Purpose of the Role:

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • Support the day to day running of classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of a class teacher.
  • Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities
  • Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment
  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Be a role model for new staff, supervising and guiding less experienced TAs.
  • Further professional development by engaging in reflective practices and continuous professional development and appraisal, including attending all statutory training provided by the school.
  • Contribute to the community life of the school by taking an active part in the preparation and celebration of both community and multi-cultural events.
  • Respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and undertake duties and tasks to the highest ability in order to achieve the smooth running of the school.

Skills & Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • The Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD and ASD
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience working within education is advantageous
  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
