Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, experienced and qualified Alternative Curriculum HLTA to work for a Training an Interventions Company to support the learning of pupils in one our inspirational Alternative Provision settings with sites across Consett and Blyth a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in the Learning Support Department and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development of young people. A driving licence and daily access to a car is essential.
About the Company:
- The role is working for an Intervention and Training provider with sites across Blyth and Consett
- The provision supports pupils across the Secondary School age range (11-16) who are behind in their progress and require Interventions to help boost their progress
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay – £127-145 per day DOE plus £30 per week fuel expenses.
- Hours –
- Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. For the right candidate, the role may become Permanent.
- Start Date – September 2026
- Location – Blyth and Consett
What you'll be doing:
- Contact time with students (1 to 3 basis)
- Lesson Planning and facilitating educational programmes
- Checking, recording and assessing work
- Liaising with parents, local authorities and external agencies regarding student progress
- Liaising with relevant community groups and external organisations
- Writing and monitoring Individual Learning Plans and Termly Progress Reports
- Monitoring break, lunch and extracurricular activities
- Attending staff meetings, conferences and additional training.
- Weekly and regular travel between Consett and Blyth sites will be required
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Teaching (QTS), Supporting Teaching and Learning or HLTA Qualification
- Experience within an SEND School Setting or Alternative Provision setting (Desired)
- Experience of planning and delivering learning activities to small groups of pupils.
- An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold a DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
