Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEN Provision

  • Annual Salary: £27,800 – £30,000 (Fringe, Scale 4-5)
  • Location: Loughton
  • Job Type: Temporary to Permanent (12 weeks temporary, then permanent)
  • Working Hours: 30 hours per week, 8am-4pm

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our faith-based school, which serves a community predominantly of Christian and Jewish students. This role involves working within a new learning support provision designed for children with significant learning or emotional needs, who can function in a mainstream setting but require additional support.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work closely with four Year 7 students who are part of the new Cognition and Learning Resource Provision.
  • Support these students both within the provision and in mainstream classes, helping them integrate and navigate through the school environment.
  • Focus on enabling students to become more independent within the school setting.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in line with the school's dress code: blazers, shirts, ties, and trousers, ensuring a respectful and professional presence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with significant learning challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to the unique needs of each student, providing both one-on-one and group support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff and engage effectively with students.
  • Commitment to the ethos of the school, respecting its faith-based values without challenging the beliefs of the students.
  • Professional demeanor, adhering to the school's dress code and overall professional standards.
