We're a busy, loving, fun and down-to-earth family of six looking for a hard-working, flexible housekeeper to keep our home running smoothly. Four of our children are late teens/young adults away at school or university most of the time, but the house gets lively when everyone's back — so we need someone practical and unflappable who mucks in, adapts to the day, and isn't too precious about a to-do list changing.
Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of all designated areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and communal spaces, ensuring high standards of hygiene and organisation.
- Prepare and cook meals according to specified recipes or dietary requirements, maintaining food safety standards at all times.
- Assist with grocery shopping and stock management to ensure the availability of fresh ingredients and supplies.
- Serve meals in a courteous manner, attending to guests’ or residents’ preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
- Monitor food storage conditions to prevent spoilage and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Support with additional household tasks as required, such as laundry or light maintenance duties, dry cleaning and post office delivery/ drop off
- Cooking the family dinner each working day
- Walking our two vizslas for one hour a day, Tuesday to Friday
- General household support: laundry, tidying, keeping on top of the everyday jobs that keep a busy home ticking over
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles; restaurant experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation.
- Previous experience in a housekeeping or domestic environment is preferred.
- Ability to prepare a variety of meals with attention to detail and presentation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving guests or residents.
- Flexibility to adapt to different routines and dietary needs.
- A positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.
