The Role
A Berkshire-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Housing Accommodation Officer to support their Housing Service on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key role within a fast-paced team, helping to ensure suitable accommodation is secured and maintained for residents in housing need.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and manage temporary and/or permanent accommodation placements
- Liaise with landlords, agents, and internal departments to secure suitable housing options
- Carry out property inspections to ensure compliance with housing and H&S standards
- Manage voids and coordinate timely property turnaround
- Support residents with tenancy-related issues, ensuring a high level of customer service
- Maintain accurate records and update housing management systems
- Respond effectively to urgent housing needs, including homelessness cases
About You
- Proven experience within a local authority housing team or similar environment
- Strong understanding of housing legislation, homelessness duties, and tenancy management
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised, proactive, and solution-focused
Additional Information
- Basic DBS check is required
- Must drive a Car
- Hybrid working may be available depending on service needs
