Housing Lawyer (3-Month Contract) – Hybrid Working
Location: Hybrid (with occasional office attendance)
Contract: 3 months (initial) – Hourly Rate

The Opportunity
We are working with a well-regarded public sector organisation seeking an experienced Housing Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, providing practical, solution-focused legal advice across a broad range of housing matters, while managing your own caseload and undertaking advocacy where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to officers on a range of housing law matters
- Manage a busy and diverse caseload, including:
- Housing disrepair
- Possession proceedings
- Anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases
- Undertake advocacy in both the County Court and Magistrates’ Court as required
- Support the wider legal team with proactive, commercially aware guidance
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with key stakeholders
About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience in housing law, particularly:
- Disrepair claims
- Possessions
- ASB matters
- Confident advocate with prior court experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, solution-led advice
- Able to manage a high-volume caseload autonomously
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working with minimal supervision
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid role with flexible remote working
- Attendance required at least once per fortnight
- Willingness to attend court in person when required
