HR Consultant

Salford Council are seeking a HR Consultant to join our team on a three-month maternity cover contract. This role is crucial in supporting the City Council, and the local Schools they support, with generalist HR advice and guidance.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Equip key managers/customers with the appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people in line with their people plans, including resourcing and talent planning, performance and talent management, pay and reward, absence management, safeguarding, conduct and dispute resolution, and career management.
- Provide expert advice and targeted consultation to ensure targeted support and up-to-date policies, letters, and other resources.
- Implement HR Policies on a consistent basis and assist in identifying changes that are required.
- Support managers with employee relations activity including disciplinaries, grievances and absence management.
- Work with managers to develop a performance management culture within their service area as a means of improving organisational performance through people.
- Develop effective and credible working relationships with managers, employees, the Trade Unions, and other external agencies to ensure positive employee relations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar HR role, ideally within a public sector environment.
- Strong understanding of HR processes and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to provide high-quality advice on a range of HR issues.
- Experience working with Trade Unions and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
