In-House Counsel (Charging) for Social Housing
Permanent | Full Time
Salary: £31,500 – £55,424 DOE
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with strong experience in real estate law and a proven track record advising on property charging and securitisation matters.
Hybrid working is available for this role, working 2–3 days in the office dependent on business need. You will be based from either Exeter, Tolvaddon, Norwich or Tewkesbury

A great opportunity for an experienced property lawyer to join our in-house legal team, leading on property charging, securitisation, and secured lending matters that support long-term growth and investment.
This is a chance to take ownership of complex transactions, work closely with senior stakeholders, and play a key role in ensuring a large property portfolio remains funding-ready.
The Role
You'll provide specialist legal advice on property charging, securitisation, financing, and refinancing transactions, ensuring security arrangements are robust, compliant, and delivered efficiently.
Working across the business, you'll manage legal due diligence, resolve title issues, oversee external counsel, and help drive continuous improvement in legal processes and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on property charging and securitisation transactions.
- Advise on financing and refinancing matters.
- Conduct and manage legal due diligence across property portfolios.
- Identify and resolve title defects and complex property issues.
- Ensure assets meet lender and funder requirements.
- Manage external solicitors and transactional delivery.
- Support funding programmes and security charging initiatives.
- Act as a subject matter expert across the organisation.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
You will need:
- Strong technical property law expertise.
- Experience managing title investigations and due diligence exercises.
- A sound understanding of lender security requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to high-quality legal work.
