An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Independent Financial Adviser to join a well-established and growing financial planning business based in Cambridge, covering clients across Cambridge and Peterborough.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a business where the Managing Director is preparing to transition approximately 140 established client households, creating a significant platform for an adviser who is both commercially driven and relationship-focused.

The firm works with a well-segmented client base, typically split into three core groups:

• £250,000 – £500,000

• £500,000 – £1,000,000

• £1,000,000+

This provides an excellent opportunity to work with high-quality clients across a broad range of wealth levels, with strong potential to build long-term recurring revenue.

The Opportunity

This role is structured to ensure long-term success and sustainable client outcomes. For the first six months, you will focus on embedding yourself within the business, understanding processes, building relationships with the internal team and developing a strong understanding of the existing client proposition.

During this initial period, no client handover will take place, ensuring you are fully prepared before taking ownership of relationships.

After this period, you will be gradually introduced to the MD’s client bank of circa 140 households, providing a strong foundation for ongoing growth and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and developing a portfolio of high-value clients post-integration

• Delivering holistic financial planning advice across pensions, investments, retirement and protection

• Building long-term relationships with clients across Cambridge and Peterborough

• Acting as the primary adviser for an established client bank of approximately 140 households

• Working closely with internal paraplanning and administration teams to deliver a seamless client experience

• Developing new business through a strong internal marketing and lead generation function

• Attending client meetings and providing ongoing review and servicing advice

• Identifying planning opportunities and growing assets under management over time

• Maintaining FCA compliance and delivering advice in line with regulatory standards

Structure of the Role

This position has a clear balance of responsibilities, with approximately:

• 70% Business Development & Client Growth

• 30% Ongoing Servicing & Relationship Management

You will be supported by a strong internal marketing team that generates regular lead flow, alongside full paraplanning and administrative support to allow you to focus on advice and client relationships.

Requirements

• Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (essential)

• Proven experience as a Financial Adviser / IFA

• Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments and holistic financial planning

• Confident managing and developing client relationships

• Comfortable working in a hybrid business development and servicing role

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Commercially aware with a focus on growing AUM

• CAS status preferred but not essential

What's on Offer

• Competitive basic salary (dependent on experience)

• Bonus structure linked to performance and AUM growth

• Circa 140 household client bank being transitioned from MD

• Strong internal lead generation from dedicated marketing function

• Full paraplanning and administrative support

• Structured onboarding with 6-month development period before client handover

• High-quality client segmentation across £250k – £1m+ clients

• Long-term career progression within a growing business

• Opportunity to significantly grow assets under management in a supportive environment
