Overview
We are recruiting a hands-on Financial Controller for a specialist charity whose focus is within the education sector.
This is a management-level role, responsible for the overall financial control and management of the organisation covering a three-month interim assignment.
This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting budgeting and audit processes.
Responsibilities..
- Oversee all financial reports, operations and controls
- Review and verify the work of outsourced finance providers, including payroll and bookkeeping.
- Manage expenses, payments, VAT returns, and Gift Aid claims.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
- Support budget holders with financial analysis and monitoring.
- Lead audit preparation and act as the main contact for external auditors.
- Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and documentation.
Profile:
- Fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- At least 5 years' post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including charity and restricted fund accounting.
- Experience using accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable working in a small, fast-paced organisation.
