We are seeking an experienced finance professional to provide a steady pair of hands and oversee the day-to-day finance function during a period of change.
This is not a transformation or project-focused role. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining business-as-usual operations, ensuring the finance team is supported, key processes run smoothly, and the organisation continues to operate effectively, to cover maternity leave
The focus will be on keeping the wheels turning. ensuring people are paid accurately and on time, expenses are processed, payroll is completed, policies are implemented consistently, and financial controls
Our Client:
A youth Charity is looking to recruit an interim Financial Controller.
The Role:
- Oversee the day-to-day finance operations and ensure continuity across the finance function
- Manage and support the Finance Transactions Manager and their team of four
- Provide oversight to the Systems Accountant (a low-maintenance role)
- Support and liaise with the Payroll Officer
- Manage and support the Financial Accountant and their direct report, including covering upcoming maternity leave arrangements
- Ensure payroll, expenses, payments, and financial controls are operating effectively
- Oversee the rollout and adherence to finance policies and procedures
- Act as a trusted senior finance lead, providing stability and guidance to the wider team
- Support audit processes and maintain strong governance
Successful Candidate:
- Background in audit, ideally having started their career within practice
- Charity sector experience desirable
- Track record as a Financial Controller. Experience managing audits and working within a governance-focused organisation
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Previous experience leading or overseeing finance

£68,000
Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office
