A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Inventory & Production Planner to join a small, friendly and supportive manufacturing team based in Ipswich. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, ownership and working closely with colleagues across Production, Supply Chain, Sales and Finance. You’ll play a key part in keeping materials, stock and production planning running smoothly — ensuring customer demand is met and inventory levels are well-controlled.
The Inventory & Production Planner Role
- Day-to-day inventory management and production planning
- Schedule, plan and monitor materials to support customer orders
- Release and manage Work Orders for “make” items
- Use the ERP system Syspro to pull material (MRP, Min/Max, Kanban)
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory data
- Analyse stock and planning data to identify improvements
- Drive inventory levels against agreed targets
- Support annual and periodic cycle counts with Finance
- Own and maintain Master Parts Data (with support from other departments)
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Warehouse, Production and Sourcing
- Contribute to continuous improvement across planning and inventory processes

Inventory & Production Planner Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Background in planning, scheduling or inventory control
- Confident user of ERP systems (Syspro, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Epicor, Sage, etc.)
- Strong Excel skills
- Organised, analytical and proactive
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure
- A team player who enjoys working in a small, friendly environment
- Comfortable making decisions and driving improvements
Desirable (not essential)
- Experience working with Scientific Products would be beneficial
- ERP system Syspro experience
- SQL knowledge
- Understanding of wider supply chain processes
- Experience with direct material procurement
- Knowledge of Lean or CI tools
- STEM degree or professional qualification (e.g., CIPS)
