Are you a competent, forward thinking and experienced Operations Engineer looking for a new role?

You’ll assist the development of departmental service improvements, supporting the existing IT Systems and Infrastructure landscape. You’ll also work on the security culture across Bidwells, understanding vulnerabilities threats and supporting cyber security. There will also be some interesting work around documentation, knowledge sharing and helping team members develop.

What you’ll be doing

Technical Leadership

  • Become the lead in at least one of the Core business systems and ensure you have sufficient training and knowledge to provide cover to other team members where required.
  • With support, plan and undertake project work, including design, and service improvement work.
  • Ensure technical documentation is created and kept up to date 

IT Estate Management

  • Work within the team to support the Infrastructure and Systems Operations across all sites.
  • Ensure patch management systems are sufficiently robust.
  • Infrastructure and Systems administration activities for Active-Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, HubSpot, the MRI Suite and Citrix.
  • Administer, renew, and upgrade Systems where required, adhering to industry and security requirements, such as Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, and firm policy.
  • Test and onboard new Systems and Infrastructure.
  • Identify and record risks to the IT risk register, and create mitigation plans where appropriate.
  • Work with our MSP to ensure the hosted estate, LAN and WAN infrastructure are up to date and performing correctly.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support through Incident, Change & Problem Management procedures.
  • Working with the Service Delivery Team and other vendors to ensure escalated tickets are dealt with correctly.  
  • Coordinate the analysis/troubleshooting of system/application issues to determine root cause and encourage future prevention.

Security

  • Monitoring and responding to security incidents using tools such as Microsoft defender, SIEM, etc
  • Used to working a secure by design environment
  • Managing vulnerabilities to the required timeline
  • Contribute to the production and development of security culture across Bidwells

User Support & Service Delivery

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, always maintaining professionalism and clear communication.
  • Log, prioritise, and manage incidents and service requests through our ITSM platform, ensuring users are kept informed.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and technical documentation.

About You

  • Solid problem-solving skills, with proficient attention to detail
  • An in depth experience of supporting the Windows desktop environment and Office 365 suite
  • Confident in fault diagnosis across technologies & platforms and experience of rectifying faults within established SLAs
  • Experience operating in a change managed environment
  • Ability to competently act as the technical point contact of escalation for incidents.
  • Experience of creating technical documentation
  • Ability to translate Business/operational requirements into effective solutions
  • Windows Server 2016 through to 2022, and experience of Intune, Active directory, SQL, SharePoint, Power Platform, Entra ID, Azure Cloud Services, HubSpot or MRI would be desirable.
