Junior Electrical Design Engineer
We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join a busy building services/consultancy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with 1-2 years' hands-on electrical design experience who is looking to develop technical skills and progress within a supportive engineering environment.
Key responsibilities – Produce electrical layouts and schematic drawings for commercial and residential building projects – Carry out lighting and power calculations to meet design specifications and regulatory requirements – Prepare CAD/Revit models, drawings and design documentation – Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, structural and architectural teams – Support senior engineers with design development, client presentations and site visits as required – Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations and follow company QA procedures – Assist with project handover documentation and provide technical support during construction
Essential skills and experience – 1-2 years' hands-on experience in electrical design within a building services or consultancy environment – Proven experience drafting electrical layouts and schematics – Ability to perform lighting and power calculations – Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
Desirable – HNC/HND, BEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Building Services – Familiarity with lighting design tools (e.g., DIALux, Relux) and electrical design software – Knowledge of BS 7671 and other relevant building regulations – Strong communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
