We are working exclusively with a leading European energy trading firm to appoint a Junior Market Risk Analyst to support its European Power & Gas proprietary trading business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a risk / product control professional to build a career in front-office-aligned market risk.
Key responsibilities

Run and reconcile daily market risk reports for European power and gas trading portfolios

Produce and review VaR and stress testing outputs, highlighting unusual moves or outliers

Develop a clear understanding of positions, exposures and trading strategies on the proprietary trading desk

Support monitoring of risk limits, exposures and P&L drivers, escalating issues where required

Work closely with traders and senior risk colleagues to explain risk and P&L moves in clear, commercial language
Candidate profile

Experience: Graduate up to c.3 years' experience

At the junior end: open to candidates from product control, middle office or operations who are keen to move into market risk

At the upper end: experience with power & gas or broader energy / commodity markets is highly desirable

Technical skills:
-
Solid Python skills to run and adapt basic scripts in a reporting / risk context

Strong Excel and confidence working with large datasets and reports

Understanding of market risk concepts (VaR, stress testing, sensitivities, P&L attribution) is an advantage; willingness to learn is essential.
